The zoo takes 1-1.5 hours to see. It's not a full-day destination. Pair with the Macedonia Square and Old Bazaar for a full day out.
The bear enclosure was rebuilt after the 2012 flood and is now the best exhibit. Visit it first while the bears are active.

I don't have much to spend on entertainment. Skopje Zoo made me feel like a hero for a fiver. My boys ran from cage to cage, pointing and shouting. The monkey house was their favorite — one chimpanzee was doing somersaults. The zoo isn't fancy but it's clean, the animals looked healthy, and my kids were beaming. That's all that matters.
