Go first thing at 8 AM before the heat sets in. Iloilo gets brutally humid by 10 AM and the animals retreat into the shade.
Combine with a visit to the nearby Jaro Cathedral and Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (within 15 minutes each way).
The Visayan warty pig enclosure is the zoo's conservation highlight - it is one of the rarest pigs in the world.

We live in Iloilo and this is our go-to weekend spot. It is small enough that our toddler doesn't get overwhelmed. She named every animal at the petting zoo after her preschool classmates. The staff are incredibly warm - one keeper let her help scatter feed for the chickens. It is not a world-class zoo but it is our zoo.
