Bangladesh's largest zoo, also known as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, spanning over 200 acres in the Mirpur area of Dhaka. Toddlers (0–3)
Dhaka Zoo is toddler-friendly with high safety standards. Visit during morning hours for the calmest experience.
Young Kids (4–9)
This age group loves Dhaka Zoo. The interactive elements are perfect for curious minds. Safety measures are excellent. Plan for 2–3 hours.
Tweens & Teens (10+)

Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
The butterfly garden near the entrance is a peaceful spot for a break - hundreds of native Bangladeshi species flutter freely in a screened enclosure.
The Bengal tiger enclosure is the main draw - feeding time around 11 AM draws crowds as the tigers become dramatically more active.
The zoo is enormous (200+ acres). Wear comfortable walking shoes and expect to cover 3-4 km. A stroller is essential for toddlers.
The saltwater crocodile enclosure near the back of the zoo has some enormous specimens. Keep small children back from the fence.
Visit on weekdays. Weekends are packed with local families and the zoo gets chaotic, especially around the tiger enclosure.
The mini train runs a 15-minute loop through the park. It costs BDT 30 per person and is a guaranteed toddler favourite.
Winter (Nov-Feb) is the only comfortable season for a full visit. Summer heat and monsoon rain make it unpleasant.
Bring snacks and water from outside. The on-site food options are limited and hygiene standards vary.

Dhaka Zoo is a bit rough around the edges but our kids love it. The tigers are magnificent and the roar is genuinely terrifying at close range. The mini train is a highlight - my nephew insisted on riding it three times. The zoo could use more shade structures and better signage, but for 50 BDT entry it's incredible value. We always pack a picnic and make a day of it.
